Margaret Kettle (Conlon) and me leaving the Dominican Hall at Fleadh Dhun Dealgan. Margaret, one of my mother's first pupils, tells a great story. Arriving at our house for her weekly fiddle lesson she meets my father at the door. He enquires how much practice she had done. Margaret states that she did a bit all right .. " a fair bit "? my father enquires... ah yes , replies Margaret ... Thats amazing , my father teases, taking her bow from behind his back. You left this behind last week!

An experimental, high-information, music performance event developed around the book, ebook and website Companion to Irish Traditional Music. A work in progress, this had an inaugural performance to enthusiastic response at the Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris, and at The Leuven Institute for Ireland, Leuven, Belgium in December, 2013. Following this, and much debate and discussion, several directions for enhancement have been indicated, work which will begin in the early summer

On tour with the Irish Rovers we met Tommy in San Luis Obispo where we had a night off and planned to go to Tommy;s gi. After talking for a while he asked me to join him on stage for two numbers . Tommy;s gisg was an amazing experience and joining him for part of the second set left me on Cloud Nine .. which appened to be the namme of the room in which I was staying in in the Madonna Inn that night!

CCE Dun Dealgan U 18 Céili Band , All Ireland Champions 1967,1968 &1969.
In 1969 I had been put in charge of the u14 band.. we won that year with the u14 band also..

Seisiun was a traditional music, song and dance carbaret first produced in Dundalk by Rory Kennedy in 1972. As part of the show John Joe Gardiner and me would play a duet piece; often the "Star of Munster and the Boys of the Lough." Crowds of up to 500 people came to the show in the summer months of 1972 -75 when I was in the show.

Photo taken by Bobby Hanvey in his studio in Downpatrick, Co. Down. I played with Bobby and Hilda (?) in their band Hauld yer Whist" in the summer of 1976... an eclectic selection of music that had us feted in an Orange parade through Castlewellan in August of that year ...

During the Willie Clancy in the 1990's I would be asked how my sister Eilish was getting on in Australia, whee she was then living. One night , after a good session in Conways of Mullagh , on being evicted rom the ber I decided to ring Eilish up and play her a few tunes and have some friends find out for themselves how she was getting on in Australia to her in Australia .. all in 50 pence coins

My mother Rose at the launch of my solo album Journeyman,in 2004 with her grandson Dónal who played fiddle and piano and also co produced the album. She was a very proud Mammy, Granny and Teacher that night
